Harald Schrader, Chairman of the Schrader Family Association, drew a historical arc from the founding fathers to the present day and could not avoid the topic of the pandemic.
Despite, or perhaps because of, the pandemic, the chairman welcomed 23 members, some of whom had travelled long distances, and a number of guests to the ceremony.

This was followed by the piece of music ‘The Blue Danube’ by Johann Strauss (son).

welcome address

Roland Maiwald; Chairman of the Jerichow Monastery Museum Foundation

Welcome by the host of the Jerichow Monastery Foundation, Mr Roland Maiwald.
Mr Maiwald gave a brief historical overview of the monastery, touching on its connection to the Schrader family through Christian Friedrich Ludwig Schrader, a former tenant of the Jerichow estate from the Königslutter clan. He concluded with a look to the future, in which the Jerichow Monastery Foundation will be absorbed into the Cultural Foundation of the State of Saxony-Anhalt.

The piece “Morning Mood” from Edward Grieg’s Peer Gynt suite, which, willy-nilly, captured the current positive spirit of optimism within the family, provided a transition to one of the highlights of the ceremony.

A block of three pieces of music, “Leise flehen meine Lieder” and “Ave Maria” by Franz Schubert, followed by “La Source” by Alphonse Hasselmans, led into the lecture by Rolf Naumann, former director of the Jerichow Monastery Museum.

Rolf Naumann

Rolf Naumann shed light on the history of the domain tenant Schrader and the connections to Jerichow, which ultimately played a decisive role in locating our association’s archive in Jerichow Abbey.

The closing remarks by our Deputy Chairman Klaus Schrader were introduced with John Barry’s famous Bond theme – a most fitting transition.
