As every year, I get restless when spring approaches (even if it’s still cold this time). Then I set off for the Altmark to work on the archive holdings.
The collection of books, magazines and other printed works in the archive is now well organised and recorded in an inventory.
The current version of the inventory will soon be uploaded to the homepage. As a result, the focus of my work is shifting more and more to the actual core of our archive, the family records.
Here, I work according to the following pattern:
- Previously unpublished material is being sought, secured and, where appropriate, published.
- For members for whom no family records exist yet, this will be done retrospectively. I will gradually contact these members and offer my assistance. But of course, no one has to wait that long; you can also ask me directly for assistance.
- In addition, the alphabet is being worked through, starting with A. Almost all family records up to the letter D have now been reviewed and many new family files have been created.
On the journey home to Bavaria, the boot was once again full of family documents, which I intend to review over the course of this year before my next trip to the archive.
I hope to gain many interesting new insights and find sufficient material for further publications in our newsletters.
