Carnival 2024 in Maasniel, Netherlands

Anniversary Prince Max I Schrader

Carnival is celebrated in many places in the Netherlands. In Maasniel, a district of
Roermond in the province of Limburg, this year’s carnival prince is a member of the
Schrader-Breischen clan. This was pointed out to us by our advisory board member Mariette Schrader from Tilburg/NL.
The following text is taken from the local press.

1. Jubiläumsprinz Max I Schrader von der Karnevalsvereinigung ‚ De Katers‘ freut sich auf die Karnevalsveranstaltungen.
Anniversary Prince Max I Schrader from the carnival association ‘De Katers’ is looking forward to the carnival events.

In 2024, the 7×11 anniversary year (founded in 1948) of the carnival association “De Katers”, Prince Max
I Schrader will lead the carnival parade. Max comes from a musical family and is a professional
trumpeter in the Royal Netherlands Navy band. Max lives in the village of Melick with his wife Kim and their three children, Lars, Tessa and Siem.

2. Max I Schrader und seine vier Adjutanten, darunter seine Brüder Joep Schrader (ganz links) und Paul Schrader (zweiter von rechts).
Max I Schrader and his four aides, including his brothers Joep Schrader (far left) and Paul Schrader (second from right).

The anniversary prince of the Katers is supported by four aides: his brothers Paul and Joep Schrader, his brother-in-law and former Katers prince Olaf Metten, and his close friend Guido Rooyakkers. It comes as no surprise that his four aides are also highly musical. This bodes well for a promising carnival season in Maasniel. Prince Max I leads the Katers with a motto in the regional dialect: Vastelaovend Maximaal! In English: “Carnival to the max!”
