Directory and contents of the communication booklets (3)

This is a monthly serialised series (1940–1999).

Six newsletters are compiled into one archive volume. The pages within an archive volume are numbered consecutively. A page is then clearly identified by the Roman numeral of the archive volume and the page number (e.g. III-223).

Each archive volume is accompanied by a comprehensive table of contents with a place and name index. Internal association matters such as short notices, cash reports and address changes in each booklet are not mentioned separately.

* Announcements from the Schrader Family Association

n 1920, our founding members understood “Mitteilungen des Familienverbandes Schrader” (News from the Schrader Family Association) to mean everything they wanted to communicate to the world in printed form about Schrader research. Similar to “Nachrichten von der Familie xx” (News from the xx Family), “Mitteilungen über” (News about) was a common and widely used term at the time.

Volume V

Begun before the war, Volume V was a major challenge in many respects! It began with Newsletter No. 25, an anniversary edition with a unique 112 pages. Of course, this level could not be maintained during the war years. And after the end of World War II, other priorities were on the agenda. Nevertheless, at the beginning of 1948, the first issue, Newsletter No. 29, was published, which was entirely devoted to the consolidation of the association. The main content followed in the two-part Newsletter No. 30, which also concluded the cycle. In 1952, the accompanying document and source book was published.

Volume VI

Over the first decades of work within the Schrader family association, members and friends gathered countless pieces of information from church records, archives, publications and memories. After the death of long-time archivist and editor Richard Schrader (Hornburg) in 1947, work on this task had to be put on hold for a long time. It was not until many years later, in 1999, that these 4,500 details were compiled into a single 330-page archive volume VI and published.
